Mohair is a soft, luxurious fiber originating from the Angora goat. Mohair yarn is also blended with wool or synthetic fibers in a pile for coatings, draperies, and upholstery, or combined with cotton, wool, or rayon and woven into a shiny, stiff clothing material.⁽¹⁾ The most valuable Angora goats are covered, except for the face and the legs below the knees, with long, fine, silky hair called mohair. The brilliant, transparent texture of mohair has made it a valued material.

As with all other fibers to get the best processing results Mohair needs to first be thoroughly washed and cleaned of vegetation.
