Well, we’re up to #3
now and still going strong. We know many of you appreciate
this newsletter and have requested us to continue sending it.
This will be the last one sent if you have not requested us
to do so. Postage is much too high to continue without a request.
So far we only have a few that need to go out by USPS, so my
postage prices will be nice after this newsletter. Thanks to
all that have agreed to let me send this via email. If you
are receiving this via email, please let me know. If you would
like your newsletters via email, please email and let me know…I
had a bunch of email addresses disappear (with me, that’s
not surprising). Thanks.
The design of the fiber washing process is still just that, in the process. I’m hoping that by the end of the year we will have everything in place. We’re looking at being able to re-use about 75% of the water by filtering out debris and such. We’ll keep you posted as things progress. I’m getting excited now and hopefully many of you will be also. |
We just got our new Opal yarn colors in.
Yeah. Not only did a big batch of soap arrive, but the yarn…in
the same day. It was like Christmas. I’m frantically
knitting (by machine and hand) socks to display with the yarns.
We had the Mexiko collection in before, along with some of
the Speckles collection. The new ones to arrive are the Brazil
and Masterpiece collections. Beautiful combos with the dying
that produces patterns and stripes without changing out your
yarns…my kind of easy! An interesting fact about the
yarns….the skeins are 100gms each…which produces
a pair of socks. This is a great selling feature, but if you
buy 2 skeins, you can actually make 3 pair of socks!!! I just
weighed out my socks and they came out to be 32-33gms each
64-66gms per pair…which leaves 34-36gms….another
sock!!! Now my mind is going…one pair for me and 2 to
sell for the cost of 2 skeins of yarn. Back to reality, Janell.
Along with the 8 color combinations of Mexiko, we have |
4 color combos of Speckles,
8 variations in Brazil and 8 different Masterpiece combinations.
Until I have my own socks done, you can see photos of these
combinations on the website: www.ptyarn.com Place your order
for these socks early as the skeins sell fast and there’s
no guarantee of getting more as they sell out of some and get
new in on a regular basis. The skeins sell for $12.00.
There are only 2 classes scheduled for August, 2002. Our schedule is so busy in the summer months and suspect that yours are, too. August 3, 2002—We have Trish Andersen coming in again for a beginning spinning class. The charge will be $12.00. If you do not have a wheel yet, we still have 3 available for rent at $5.00 for the day. There are only a few openings left for this one. We will be supplying the fiber for you to work with. Please bring a sack lunch as this class will run from 10am to about 2pm. August 24, 2002—Renee Elting will be teaching this class again. We only have about 3 openings left. You will be taking home about 1# of soap (in progress) from this class. You will need a sack lunch as the class runs from 10am to about 2pm. Class fee is $15.00 plus a $10.00 materials fee…this fee is for the soap you will be taking home…for a total of $25.00 each person. |
September, 2002 will be without classes
as it’s a busy month. Heather will need to be moved back
to school (for her last term!!! Yeah!), there’s Oregon
Flock and Fiber Festival (OFFF) on the 21st and 22nd and, seeing
how that weekend is our 28th anniversary, we may need one of
the weekends to ourselves…selfish, I know, but regrouping
once in a while is good, right? Classes will continue in October,
2002.

yarn, the worsted weight yarn is $3.00/oz. This is on a first come/first serve basis. I don’t know if any of you noticed or not, but the address on the front of the newsletter is different…no, we haven’t moved, the county finally started moving on this (the gravel road has only been named for 3 1/2 years). Now, I wonder how many times I’ll have to call them to have a SIGN put on the road…it’s only been 3 months since we got notice to change our address…guess I shouldn’t expect miracles, hey? Ha. Anyway, future correspondence to us should have the 9190 S. Centennial Lane address. Thanks. Well, it’s time to close once again for this issue. Take care & God bless. Janell |
