Late again…I know.  Journalism is not part of this business, that I'm sure of.  It has been a very busy time.  We're trying to make sure everything's ready for our daughter's wedding in May and of course, there's the new grand baby due next month.  Being a mother-in-law again and a brand new grandma is exhausting!!!  The next few weekends it's showers…bridal and baby.  So much fun.  There have been down times, too.  We had to put our beloved Samoyed down a couple of weeks ago.  I know it was time, but very hard to do…she was 12 and was born here, so we had both grown very attached to her.  Now I'm looking for another Samoyed puppy.  I must be crazy, hey?

 

Don't know about the rest of the country, but we've been having some really beautiful weather here in Oregon.  The temps have been in the 60's and 70's and dry (unusual for us this time of year!).  We've been bringing our chairs out on the deck for lunch the past few days…soaking up the rays…feels soooooo good.  I'm ready for summer!  Ha!  I'm sure most people are at this time of the year.  Wish we could say it's here to stay for this spring, but reality says…don't get your hopes up, Janell!  Ha!

 

We've been swamped in the shop lately.  Word is out that we wash fiber now and many people want their fiber spun as well.  We're working as hard as we can, so please be patient with us.  We're trying to do the best we can with all your wonderful fibers.

 

I do have a request.  Most of you are on top of this, so please ignore this.  When bringing in your fiber or sending it to us, please make sure that there are explicit instructions in each bag, along with your name, address, phone number and email address.  We don't have the room to keep all your fiber bags in the original box (s),  so need all the instructions in each bag.  I hope to put together a form that you can print off the website that you can fill out and include in all your fiber requests.  Thanks in advance.

We're completely out of a few things right now.  There are NO Mystery Batts or Naturale roving right now…at least we have some control over that situation.  However, we also are out of Qiviut roving and can't seem to get any response from our source for this, so if you really want some, call and add your name to our growing list of people that want this wonderful fiber to spin.

 

Our costs for wool top has gone up several times in the past year or two and we've held on to our prices.  However, it just went up again and I'm afraid I may have to increase my prices as well.  It will take awhile to change things in the computer, on the website and labels on the bags, so I should have it completed  by the first part of June.

 

Increases in prices seem to be everywhere these days.  Our Opal yarns have gone up in price also.  A skein of “Inspiration”, “Magic”, “Southwest”, “Brazil” and “Lollipop” are now $15.00.  The “Handpainted” is $17.00 per skein.

 

We don't have any classes scheduled for the next couple of months.  Will update you in the next newsletter on upcoming special classes.
