I’m running at a frantic pace these days. The new Grandson, Eric James, was born on March 25 th. He weighed 7# 3oz. and 21” long. Needless to say, we’re all very pleased. I think I was meant to be a Grandma! Yeah! Anyone interested can click on this link and see baby Eric a couple hours after his birth. Eric’s_Birthday_web-album Can’t hardly touch the floor now and now the wedding of our other child is right around the corner, May 22 nd. Anyone that has been through a wedding knows how frazzled I am right now, but it will soon be over except for the pictures/video. Then maybe I can put my feet up??? Yeah right.
Business is going very well. Both part time employees don’t have to worry about being out of work for a while!!! Right now carding…for batts or roving and dehairing is about 6 weeks out and spinning is about 4 months. We’re further behind than we have been in the past, but working hard to get that turn around time down again.
I had a customer come in last week and noticed my wooden swift. Apparently she has connections with some students that are making these swifts and I told her I’d mention them in the newsletter. The large swifts are of various woods and all hand made. They sell for $50.00. If you have any questions about them, contact Barbara Dimick at 503-659-7883 or bdimick@aol.com .
I want everyone to remember that Black Sheep Gathering is next month (June 25-27) in Eugene, Oregon. Anyone that can make it, should. It’s informative and fun and you’ll meet the greatest people. We’ll have a double booth there just like we have for the past 7 years. Hard to believe this will be our 8 th BSG.
We got about 40 pounds of raw Gotland wool in today! We have ewe and lamb fleeces, so if anyone is interested, please contact us soon. I need to hide some for myself so I can blend it with my grey llama fiber and my grey pygora. That’s if I can manage to get MY fiber done! Ha! There will be another smaller shipment of wool coming in soon. Once it’s gone I won’t be getting anymore until next year at this time. Raw fiber (well skirted) is $15.00/#, washed and in roving is $24.00. If you haven’t tried Gotland, treat yourself. It’s in varying shades of grey only.
I know this newsletter is shorter than most, but time is precious lately and I’m running out of it…the wedding is coming fast! Ha! Hope you have a great May and June. Will report on Black Sheep Gathering in the next newsletter.
Take care & God bless.
