Fantasy Fibers |
Well, as usual, I’m running late with this newsletter…even more so than usual. Sorry folks, it’s been a little on the hectic side here. The business is keeping me, Myrna, Jackie and now Heather pretty busy. Let me catch you all up to date with the news….
First of all, let me tell you that the first weekend of June Jackie and I were at the Northwest Regional Spinner’s Association Conference in Salem, Oregon. We had a great time visiting people that we only get to see at fiber related functions. Now we’ve got our sights set on Black Sheep Gathering which is June 24-26 in Eugene, Oregon. Hope to see many of you there.
We just got this year’s shipment of Gotland wool. Only got about 30 pounds this year, so it will be gone fast, I’m afraid. Roving will be the same as last year, $24.00/#, put up in 8oz. bumbs ($12.00 each). I got all lambs wool this year. It’s beautiful as usual…really love the stuff myself!
We have enjoyed our new carder from MiniMills so much that we’ve ordered another one. This is great, but we don’t have the room to store our two Pat Green carders that we’re replacing. I’ve looked up the tax assessment for the two carders and will sell them for less than that. The larger of the two is assessed at $6300.00 and I’m asking $6000.00. The smaller carder is assessed at $5040.00 and I’m asking $4800.00. I need to move these machines out of the shop in the next couple of weeks. If you’re interested, please contact me immediately. Thanks.
Besides the new carder, we’re getting another 8 spindle spinner and a ball winder. It’s time to rearrange the shop…one more time! Jim & I really love doing this (choke!).
We’ll be having a new look at the fiber shows, beginning with Black Sheep Gathering. A few of our white plastic bins that we use for fiber shows have cracked and had to be discarded. Now the real dilemma was the fact that we couldn’t find any more of them….anywhere. So, I got a new kind of bin…wire & canvas. They’ll do just fine…and I got plenty to last for a good while. Now, I have quite a few of the plastic bins that I need to get rid of. I’m selling them off for $1.00 a bin…first come, first serve. 25 of them have been sold already, so hopefully I won’t have them for much longer….call and come by to check them out.
We seem to have a lot of stuff on sale this newsletter. One thing I need to mention is on July 16 th I’m going to have a Porch Sale. I have a lot of llama and alpaca fiber (unprocessed) that needs to go. I can’t seem to use up all my personal fiber anymore, so plan on having it out on the porch and priced to sell. The porch sale will be from 9am to 3pm. Hope you can join me and get a good deal on some nice fiber.
Last month I got another piece of machinery in that I’ve tried to keep pretty much a secret because I’m not sure (even yet) how it will fit in to the processing. It’s a needle felter…makes sheets of needle felted fabric. I’m not sure if I’ll be offering it as a service or the finished product…I’ll keep you up to date on the decision.
Can’t think of any other earth shattering news to tell you, so guess I’d better close for now…anyway, I’ve got to leave somethings for the July/August newsletter…that I have to start right after I finish this one! Ha!
Take care & God bless….
Janell
